Real Experience: Kong Saharat’s Journey from a Physically Intense Lifestyle to Modern Treatment
Spinal Treatment and Care
“If I had known this earlier, I wouldn’t have wasted so much time dealing with it.”
A herniated disc can happen to anyone—even those who are physically strong. When your lifestyle involves risk and intensity, it’s only a matter of time before your body sends you a warning. Kong Saharat Sangkapreecha never thought this kind of condition would happen to him, but he eventually found himself facing treatment for a herniated disc pressing on a nerve.

Kong reflects on his younger years. While many saw him as calm and well-mannered, his real life was anything but. “You could say I was a bit wild—I’ve always liked thrill-seeking, high-adrenaline activities,” he says with a smile.
He fondly recalls his favorite pastimes—jet skiing for hours at a time, sometimes even competing in races, and long motorcycle touring trips with friends that lasted from dawn till dusk. He truly lived life to the fullest.
A Single Snap That Changed Everything
But life took a sudden turn. In the middle of one of these exhilarating activities, he heard a loud “pop” in his back. A burning sensation shot down from his back to his legs—an intense pain so severe it nearly brought him to his knees.
“I was shocked. I could barely walk. I had to bend over and slowly shuffle forward in pain,” he said. Still, he tried to tell himself it would go away—but this pain was unlike anything he’d experienced before. Even simple movements, like shifting in bed, became a struggle.
He tried several treatment methods, and while the pain subsided somewhat, an odd discomfort lingered. “It wasn’t unbearable anymore, but it was annoying—tightness, tension, and stiffness in spots from my legs to my lower back. It disrupted my daily life.”
Finding the Cause, Fixing the Root—and Getting Life Back Quickly
Still passionate about his active lifestyle, he couldn’t shake the worry that things might worsen. That led him to search for a place that could truly help—and he was lucky. A friend who had gone through a similar experience recommended S Spine Hospital, a spine-specialized medical center.
When he met with the doctor, a physical exam was followed by an MRI scan—but this one was done in a standing position. “I had only ever heard of MRI scans in a lying position, but the doctor explained how this upright MRI gives a clearer view of how the spine behaves during normal activities.”
“You can see everything clearly. The doctor explained that standing reflects real-life posture—how we walk, stand, move. It helps us understand the actual condition of the spine and discs in motion.”
What reassured him most was how straightforward and transparent the medical team was. “They explained everything in a way I could understand—direct and honest, without making small issues sound worse than they were.”
S Spine’s MIS Technique: Making Surgery Less Intimidating
Most people are afraid of surgery, associating it with large incisions and long recoveries. But for Kong, that perception changed completely.
“The surgery I thought would involve a big open wound turned out to be a minimally invasive procedure. The incision was tiny—about the size of a pen tip or a needle. There was almost no blood loss.”
“If I had known this earlier, it would’ve saved me so much time,” Kong says. Having experienced the professionalism and effectiveness of care at S Spine Hospital, he’s now back doing what he loves—living life on his own adventurous terms.
Thank you, Kong Saharat, for trusting S Spine Hospital with your care.

Posterior Cervical Endoscopic Discectomy (PSCD)
Neck pain radiating down the arm is typically caused by nerve compression in the cervical spine. Increasingly, younger individuals are being diagnosed with cervical disc herniation due to daily lifestyle habits such as prolonged computer use, looking down at mobile phones for extended periods, poor posture, and injury from accidents.
Lower back pain radiating down the leg often stems from nerve compression in the lumbar spine. This condition is common among working adults and the elderly, as well as those with habits that accelerate spinal degeneration—such as prolonged sitting or standing in the same position, improper lifting techniques, spinal injuries from accidents, and high-impact physical activities.

Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression
A herniated disc occurs when an intervertebral disc slips out of its normal position and may press on nearby nerves. This condition commonly affects the lumbar spine, particularly at levels L4-L5 and L5-S1. It typically results from age-related disc degeneration, prolonged sitting, improper lifting techniques, or spinal trauma from accidents.

Full Endoscopic Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (Full Endo TLIF)
Spondylolisthesis is a condition in which one vertebra slips forward out of its normal alignment. This commonly occurs in the lower spine, especially at the L5-S1 level. It is frequently found in older adults due to degenerative disc disease, where the weakening of spinal discs leads to instability and vertebral displacement.

Endoscopic Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (Endoscopic ACDF)
Endoscopic ACDF is a surgical procedure used to treat severe cervical disc degeneration or disc herniation in the neck. When the disc becomes too damaged to absorb shock or herniates and compresses the spinal nerves, it can cause radiating pain down the arms and hands, significantly affecting daily life.

Vertebroplasty (Cement Injection)
Vertebral fractures or collapses are serious spinal conditions that typically occur due to bone degeneration, accidents, or severe trauma. These injuries can lead to significant pain and impair mobility. They are mostly seen in patients aged 50 and above, especially those with underlying osteoporosis.

Selective Nerve Root Block (SNRB)
Patients suffering from back pain caused by inflammation of the nerve root or foramen—often due to herniated discs or spinal joint inflammation—may experience radiating pain along the nerve pathway, even if the condition is still in its early stages. In such cases, a Selective Nerve Root Block (SNRB) can help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain effectively.
